Accounting Assistant

Murphy Clarke is a private independently owned risk management company offering investment management and financial products and services.

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for effectively accounting for and administering investment portfolios in accordance with documented investment strategies and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Record keeping and Reporting

  • Perform daily reconciliation of local and foreign bank and brokerage accounts.
  • Record and categorize all transactions on credit card statements and petty cash, while ensuring proper filing of supporting documents.
  • Maintain cheque vouchers and organize relevant supporting documents efficiently.
  • Generate invoices for shared expenses and collaborate with tenants to ensure adherence to agreed terms.
  • Execute monthly cheque payments or transfers to suppliers, landlords, and service providers.
  • Input transaction data accurately into Quickbooks.
  • Support with the prompt preparation of Management Accounts for Executive and Board Reporting on a monthly basis.

Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Comply with the administrative, procedural, and accounting aspects of financial operations for group companies.
  • Assist in the coordination with regulatory bodies like TTSEC on financial matters and license applications.
  • Support the completion and filing of the company’s Annual Returns.
  • Assist in the calculation and procession of payments for Green Fund Levy, Corporation taxes, and other applicable taxes.
  • Assist with annual audit preparations, both external and internal.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and any applicable regulatory requirements
  • Participate in scheduled staff training and retreats
  • Actively participate in any activities that support the environment, social, health, safety and quality management goals of the organisation.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Experience & Training

  • Minimum two (2) years of work experience within the area of accounting.
  • Accounting-related training leading up to an ACCA designation.
  • Past Audit Experience will be an asset.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Investments or other similar discipline
  • Completed/Pursuing Level 1 ACCA

Knowledge

  • Knowledge in investment accounting will be an asset
  • Working knowledge of Quickbooks will be an asset.
  • Knowledge about Murphy Clarke Financial organisational culture and work environment will be an asset
